Well, we pulled it together in an incredible way to find the win column in our last game of the season against Keene. Despite a valiant attempt by the Chargers to come back in the second half, your Lady Eagles held the lead the entire game and won 27-17. Scoring on the night came from Brynlee Ramos with 2, Halle Craig with 5, Sara Spigener with 7, and Addilynn Clayton with 13. The defense played as if all 8 girls were on the court at the same time and came up with multiple deflections and steals. Kate Villareal, Brianna Moreno, and Ruth Portillo gave max effort in their extended minutes, and Jazmin Garrett kept the energy up when on the floor.

Ladies, it's been a tough season but I wouldn't trade the times we've had and memories created for ANYTHING. Love y'all and many prayers for your future.

Please come out and support us next Thursday as we try to close out the season with a win!

The boys never gave up defensively just could not get a bucket to fall offensively. Thank you for all the support this season.

8A Coach Brown

he 8th grade A team boys finished strong, pulling out a last minute win against the Keene chargers! With the game tied and 1:30 to go your Eagles came up with huge steals on the defensive side followed by tough finishes at the offensive end to push their lead to 6 and win the game 36-30. Your Eagles finish a great year going 10-3.

7B and 8B Combined Coach Mannis

Tonight the boys traveled to Keene to take on the chargers.

The boys played hard and sapped all of the energy out of the chargers leading to a 20- 17 victory. The guys came out pushing a full court press that couldn't be beat and crashing boards on both sides of the ball. Cesar Perez came in hard being unstoppable when the ball was in his hands and Travis White led 7th to hold down the fort. It was a great game and amazing way to end the season.

I couldn't be more proud of these young men.

Girls Basketball Results Thursday 1/16/2025

7A Sanders

Venus defeated your 7A Lady Eagles 17–23. Up until the end of the fourth quarter, the game was competitive. Because these young women displayed tenacity, I am quite proud of this defeat. Their improvement is increasing daily. After the game, the Venus coach added that those weren't the same girls he had played against before.

I feel so fortunate to be coaching these young women.

7B K Creech

We may need rabies vaccinations after last night’s game because we got bit while trying to muzzle the Venus Lady Bulldogs. We fell 13-23 after a one point difference in the first half. Despite being down two players, the girls gave maximum effort. Halle Craig, Kate Villarreal, and Sara Spigener found the scorers column with 3, 5, and 5 respectively. Brynlee Ramos played her best game defensively, while Jazmin Garrett, Brianna Moreno and Ruth Portillo gave tremendous efforts defensively as well.

Your 7th A boys basketball traveled to Ferris Thursday night and lost to a tough yellow jacket team! I want to give a shout out to all players for playing hard for all four quarters!

Our next time on the court will be January 11th for the Hillsboro Classic JH tournament!

8A Coach Brown

It was another great win for your Hillsboro 8th Grade A team Eagles 28-17 over the Ferris Yellowjackets. It was smooth sailing for your Eagles as they dominated all aspects of the game. The Eagles were led in scoring by #4 Elijah Clayton, with other standout performances from #21 Ethan Clayton, #1 Deangelo Bibles, and #5 Kayson Librado. Your Eagles will go into Christmas Break undefeated with a 4-0 record ready to get back at it in the Hillsboro Classic on January 11.

7B Coach Harris

Last night the 7th grade b team defeated Ferris 26-12. Leading scorer was Rylie Cunningham (5 points). The team record is 4-0.

8B Coach Mannis

Well it wasn't in the cards for a Christmas win as the Hillsboro Eagle B team traveled to Ferris hoping to bring home the win. It was a hard fought and fast paced game on both sides but Ferris pulled out to lead the Eagles. Final score was 31 to 12 but the score did not reflect the hard work and determination that the boys put into the game. All of the players worked hard crashing the boards and looking for the next shot. We continue to get better.

HJHS Girls Basketball Results Monday 12/16/24

7A Sanders

The 7A Lady Eagles won against the Ferris Yellowjackets on Monday night, 16 to 6. Isabella Hernandez scored 10 points, Collins Cole, and Emma Harris with 4 points. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Natalia Ramirez for being coachable and having multiple steals. I am so proud of these ladies for stepping up and not letting the past weekend's tournament define them.

7B K Creech

Your 7th grade B team Lady Eagles scored another victory against Ferris!! Great job ladies! Ending the semester 4-0!! Shout out to Isabella A for great defense and Denise for being on fire with her layups! Keep up the great work, and keep being even better teammates!

8A Lewis

In heartbreaking fashion we couldn’t find a win to end the first half of the season losing to Ferris 12-15.

We held the Yellowjackets to 1 point in the entire first half, but gave up 6 unanswered points in the third quarter that swung the tide in our opponent’s direction. I don’t particularly believe in omens but a mysterious wasp interrupted our practice in the morning and gave the girls a fit while chasing them around the court… could it have been a Yellowjacket drone maybe? I just wonder, because it felt the same in the second half of of the game. Addilynn Clayton, Halle Craig, and Brynlee Ramos all found the scorer’s column. Sara Spigener and Adi had several steals on the night also. Maybe Santa will leave us some “win potion” in our stockings and we come back in January en fuego!

8B L Creech

The 8B Lady Eagles lost by 1 against the Ferris Lady Jackets after leading the entire game. Aaliyah lead the team with 8 points. Kimber had 4, TyLiyah with 3 and Sophia with 2.

We started the game really strong but just couldn’t see it through. We will be incorporating a new offense to utilize our strengths and hopefully pull out a win upon returning from the break.

HJHS Girls Basketball Results Saturday 12/14/24 La Vega TOURNAMENT

7A

Our 7th grade girls went 1-2 in the La Vega tournament. Our first match up was Bosqueville, and we had a great team performance. Our last two games were against La Academia and Tennyson, and it did not go as planned. Although we did not get the outcome we wanted, the girls had a great first time experience. We finished the tournament in 8th place out of ten teams competing.

8A

The 8th grade girls also went 1-2 in the La Vega Tournament, beating Connally in the first match up, but unable to take that fire into the next game against Bremond. This put us in the consolation game against Bryan SFA and we came out with lockdown defense holding the lead in the first quarter and only down by two going into the half. I think someone switched our goal with an amusement park rim in the second half because the ball seemed too big to fit in the basket the rest of the way! We ended up in 6th place out of ten teams. All the girls deserve a shout out for enduring such a long day that started at 6:45am and didn't end til almost 8:30pm. Thank you for your commitment ladies.

The 8B Lady Eagles fought until the very end losing a double overtime matchup against the Venus Lady Bulldogs. Ty'Liyah Myles and Sophia Rodriguez led the Lady Eagles with 4 points each followed by Brianna Mosca and Anna Claire Bailey with 2 each. We are very proud of the hustle and perseverance by the entire team. We hope to carry that same energy into our next game Monday night against the Ferris Lady Jackets.

We came up short again Thursday against Venus. Apparently their bite matched their bark and despite our best efforts to get a leash on the bulldogs, we couldn't prevent their consistent attack. We'll have one more shot at payback this season and can hopefully come out on top.

8B L Creech

Seventh Grade B Team boys basketball defeated Ferris 27-23.
Our leading scorer was Travis White with 8 points!!! We are 2-0 for the season!

8B Coach Mannis
Hillsboro came off of a heavy Thanksgiving meal and struggled to spread their wings against the buzzing Yellow Jackets. Fouls plagued us as the Ferris kept buzzing around like pesky gnats holding the Eagles to 6 in the first half. In the second half the Eagles began to fight for a win with Silas putting up six points and J.J. and Cesar Gonzales both posting 4 each. Defensively Luis swatted at the Yellow Jackets for boards on both sides of the court and steals were made by Danny Tanguma, Gio, and Austin. Unfortunately, our can of raid ran out and the Ferris squeaked by with a win of 27-17. The team will be getting ready for another game away at Venus where they will be ready with their dog nets and leashes.

7A Coach Haney
Your Eagles played at home last night against the Ferris YellowJackets and came up 12 points short of a victory. Kam Rodriguez was our offensive MVP with 7 points scored. Defensive MVP was Leo Salas with many stops and forced turnovers.

Your Eagles will be back in action on December 12 as we travel to Venus America to take on the Bulldogs for a second time. GO EAGLES!

8A Coach Brown
Your 8th grade A team squared off against a very athletic Ferris Yellowjacket squad. With a 27-24 lead going into the 4th quarter a late surge by the jackets put them ahead by 2 with a just over a minute on the clock. When a drive to the basket by #1 DeAngelo Bibles resulted in a foul and an injury, #0 Alex Clark came off the bench and hit both free throws to send the eagles into overtime. A few huge steals and last second free throws put your eagles up by 2. The Eagles came together for a defensive stop in the paint and got the ball back to run out the clock with the final score of 39-37 in overtime.

Key Players:
#0 Alex Clark with 4 points
#1 DeAngelo Bibles with 7 points
#4 Elijah Clayton with 10 points
#5 Kayson Librado with 5 points
And leading the scoring for the Eagles was #21 Ethan Clayton with 13 points

Also a huge shout out to the 7th grade A team, B team and 8th grade B team for being in the game the whole time. And being the best student section they could in order to pull off a huge win!

HJHS Girls Basketball Results 12/2/24

7B K Creech
7th B Lady Eagles took a dub! Everyone played great and kept good sportsmanship! Way to go! Shout out to Denise Librado for taking a few hits and drawing up some fouls!

8A Lewis
Despite outstanding effort in the fourth quarter to come back within 2 points with only 80 seconds left in the game, 8A couldn't get those last buckets to fall and lost 16-18. Scoring was led by Addilynn Clayton and defensive shout outs go to Jazmin Garrett and Sara Spigener for several take aways in the fourth quarter. We have plenty of time to get it right before playing 3 out of 5 days with a game-tournament-game stretch next week.

8B L Creech
The 8B Lady Eagles returned with a 15-12 victory against the Ferris Lady Jackets. Aaliyah Tapia led the team with 7 points followed by Sophia Rodriguez with 6 and Anna Claire added 2. The girls worked hard to execute their offense and be more aggressive. Ty’Liyah Miles had several steals and Kimber added multiple rebounds. We are super excited about the improvement the girls have made since our first game and hope to keep building on that.

Seventh Grade B Team boys basketball defeated Venus 40-8.
Our leading scorer was Major Lopez with 12 points!!!

8B Coach Mannis
On Thursday the Eagles hosted the bulldogs on their own nesting grounds and truly put on a show. Defense was the name of the game and boy did the Eagles make sure to play the game. Offensively J.J. Lopez put six on the board with two threes, Danny Tanguma scored six after dominating on steals and Austin Wayman came in with six as well controlling the boards on both sides to pull off a 27-6 victory and send the bulldogs back to the kennel.

8A Lewis
8A girls couldn’t muzzle the Bulldogs and lost 19-14 in the season opener.
Addilynn Clayton posted 13 of those 14 points. A few needed baskets just wouldn’t fall through the rim for other shooters and despite some aggressive defensive from Jazmin Garrett and Brynlee Ramos, Venus had more things go their way on their home hardwood.

8B L Creech
The 8B Lady Eagles played good defense in Venus on Thursday, but were unable to get it going on the offensive end. Aaliyah Tapia scored 4 points and Kimber secured multiple offensive and defensive rebounds.

The Lady Eagles have a plan and hope for a different outcome in our next game on December 2nd.

HJHS Football Results 10/24/24

7th Grade

On Thursday night our very own Hillsboro Eagles flew onto the Chargers field looking to round up the ponies and put this season in the stable. In true Eagle fashion we swooped in and circled the poor ponies so much that they looked more like a child's merry-go-round. William Davis made an outstanding fumble recovery to begin breathing life into the team followed by touchdowns by both Demarcus Brooks and Dominic Sowers. The Eagles created such a storm on both offense and defense that the poor ponies had to hide in their stalls as the Eagles came away with a 36-0 victory to end their season showing why the Eagles of HJH dominate the sky. The coaches want to say great job guys and we look forward to building on it more next year.

8th Grade
The 8th grade football team traveled to Keene last night and brought home a 40-8 Big Victory.
Ethan Clayton was our offensive MVP with 4 touchdowns and multiple big first down plays.
Kayson Librado scored on a long pass from Demarrion Green.
Angel Rodriguez scored on a big 40 yard rushing play.
Javier Gaspar recovered a fumble in the endzone for his first defensive TD of the season.
I couldn't be more proud of how these young men show up and play together as a team. This year has been one of the best football seasons we have had in a while. To see athletes care about a sport and pick each other up every play is what every coach dreams of.
Keep your head up young men and you will do amazing things in life. GO EAGLES!

8th Grade Volleyball Results from 10/21/24

Closing the Season

8B L Creech

Your 8B Lady Eagles are THE UNDEFEATED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! This team has grown in so many ways but I love their teamwork the most. They hold each other accountable in a positive way and make the most of every practice to get better.

In last night’s match-up, Julianna and Anna Claire brought the heat from the serving line racking up ace after ace. Kaley, Helena and Haidi had amazing passes that led to multiple kills from Payton,

Sofia Rodriguez and Jackie. Kate, Adalynn and Sophia Rea showed consistency and leadership all over the court throughout the ENTIRE season. Most improved goes to JaZale who is literally killing it at the net. Thank you, ladies, for showing up at 6:45 every day even when you didn’t have to, your enthusiasm and for all always wanting to run the drill until we get it right. It has been an honor to coach you and I can’t wait to see what your future holds!

8A Lewis

In the final game of the volleyball season the 8A girls took some frustration out on the Yellowjackets, having lost to them twice before. After a not so veiled warning of “you better not lose again” the girls took to the floor with determination to win, and did so in two sets!

Sharp and responsive net play from Addilynn Clayton, Ruth Portillo, Sara Spigener, Brynlee Ramos, Analeah Vasquez, and Brianna Moreno made it tough for Ferris to get anything through on the attack. The back court was securely covered by Mariah Harrison, Halle Craig, Aliyah Tapia, Kimber Barnes, and Jocelyn Grimaldo. Every young lady played with infectious energy and a sense of urgency that led to some outstanding plays and a great brand of volleyball. What a way to close the season at .500 and avoid a losing record, showing just what you’re capable of when you play for each other. It was an absolute honor to coach each of you and I can’t wait to see how well you do in high school.

HJHS Volleyball Results 10/17/2024

7B Lady Eagles struggled to put the muzzle on the bulldogs but got a victory in 3 matches! Great job Lady Eagles. Proud of you all for how far we’ve come this season!

Our last game is Monday so please come support us to swat the wasps!

7A Sanders

7A girls took home the victory beating Venus in 2 sets. I can’t say enough how proud I am of these girls. They showed up and showed out! Shoutout to Emma Harris for being aggressive and getting 3 downballs over!!!!

8B L Creech

Your 8B Lady Eagles got the win in Venus last night but more importantly, they learned the power of positive energy in times of adversity. A small thing that can definitely shift the momentum. Shout out to Kate Villareal, Ja'Zale Maxey and Sophia Rea for keeping us in the game with serves. Payton Coleman had a couple of beautiful deep pushes and Sophia Rodriguez made several nice passes in serve receive. Special recognition to Kaley Zint for always staying positive!

Super proud of this team as they improve their record to 6-1. Way to go Lady Eagles!

8A Lewis

With lifted spirits and a jolt of energy the 8A girls won in two sets 25-17 and 25-23. They should have been paid for walking the dogs as this was the third win of the season against the Bulldogs. Mariah Harrison created the opportunity for a come from behind run in the first set by serving seven great balls, while the rotation held serve with excellent defense and aggressive offense. In the second set, Jocelyn Grimaldo initiated seven held serve points as well and sprinkled an ace or two in for good measure. Addilyn Clayton was hard to handle on the attack; Ruth Portillo and Brynlee Ramos repeatedly made their presence known at the net; Brianna Moreno, Analeah Vasquez, and Aliyah Tapia made hustle plays that sustained the rally for much needed points. Sara Spigener, Kimber Barnes and Halle Craig were so solid and kept us driving forward whether on the floor or cheering on their sisters from the bench.

THIS IS HOW LADY EAGLE VOLLEYBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED!

We finish the season at home on Monday at Ferris and would all love to have you come cheer us on.

7th Grade

Looking to prove that lightning can strike in the same spot twice, Hillsboro traveled to Dallas life and took on the Lions in their own den. Starting off the defense made a tremendous play with a flock of Eagles causing a safety on the Lions possession to put the score up by two. This was followed by an amazing stop by Dominic Sowers that surely would have ended in a Lions touchdown. Demarcus Brooks again came swooping in for a Eagles touchdown and the 7th grade Eagles took the victory eight to nothing. All of the coaches are proud of the growth that the players have shown and this week want to really shout out our offensive and defensive lines that held the fort and made sure to keep the path to victory in sight.

8th Grade

Your 8th grade football team traveled to Dallas Life last night and came up just short of a victory. Losing 37-24, your Eagles battled all night and never gave up until the final whistle. I want to give a shout out to multiple Eagles for putting some points on the board. First, Elijah Clayton for scoring our first touchdown on a great pass from Demarrion Green. Second TD came from Ethan Clayton jumping up and snagging a high pass from Green. Next, Eli Carmona bulldozed his way in for 2 more rushing touchdowns. Kason Librado and Alex Clark made some big plays changing the entire sideline energy.

Next week we travel to Keene looking to add another win to our record. GO EAGLES!!!

HJHS Football Results 10/10/24

7th Grade

On Thursday the 7th grade traveled to Venus in hopes of silencing the bulldogs bark and in a dominating show they did just that. From the opening kick Major Lopez scored putting the Eagles on the board followed by a touchdown by Dominic Sowers and three more by Demarcus Brooks to teach the bulldogs to stay on the porch ending the game with a score of 32-8.

8th Grade

Your Eagles traveled to Venus Thursday night and threw them dawgs in the cage from the beginning. Ethan Clayton scored early on a perfect pass from Demarrion Green. Then Alex Clark followed it up the next drive with a long running TD off a Jet Sweet. Elijah Clayton had some great catches for multiple first downs. Eli Carmona led the team with over 15 tackles and multiple sacks in the backfield for losses. Finally I want to give a HUGE shout out to Abraham Perez, this young man stepped up early on in the game and played Defensive Tackle and was unstoppable. Venus tried double teaming him and they just could not handle his aggressive mindset. He also had multiple sacks in the backfield for losses. Great job young man, keep working hard.

Next week we travel to Dallas Life looking for some sweet revenge! GO EAGLES!!!!

7A Lady Eagles lost to Ferris in three sets. Unfortunately we didn’t want it more than our opponent, but I am still very grateful and proud of this team. Big Shoutout goes to Zyriah Singleton and Layla Byrd for stepping up and showing good sportsmanship.

8B L Creech

The 8B Lady Eagles found the win column again last night defeating the Ferris Lady Jackets 26-24 and 25-9. Certainly we had members of the team that scored more points than others but TEAMWORK is what prevailed. Each member of the team contributed in multiple ways and stepped up to make it happen. Outstanding players were Kate Villareal and JaZale Maxey.

8A Lewis

8A didn't bring enough bug spray last night and fell to the Yellowjackets in two sets, 18-25 and 16-25.  Shout out to Ruth Portillo for unexpectedly playing all around in a teammate's absence, forcing her to play big in the front row, then have range in the back row.

Our penultimate game of the season has us traveling to Venus next Thursday.

8th Grade

Your Eagles faced a tough Dallas Life team last night and came up short of a victory! Although it wasn’t the outcome we wanted, we can hang our hats knowing we battled hard until the final whistle.

Next week we travel to Venus to take on the bulldogs!

7th Grade

Tonight's game was a testament to the old story of the Eagle versus the Lion. In the case of our seventh graders, the Eagle sunk its talons in and silenced the lions roar winning 26-22. Damarcus Brooks soared down the field screaming out his battle cry. All of the coaches were super proud of this group. They have begun to really show what it means to be a true student athlete.

Student Shout Outs

Demarcus Brooks with 2 scoring Touchdowns

Dominic Sowers with 2 scoring Touchdowns

Mason McGregor with one diving 2 Point Conversion

7B L. Creech

7B Lady Eagles were fierce last night bringing home a win against Ferris Lady Jackets. Victoria Villagomez was on fire from the serving line in both games racking up 14 and 9 points. Natalia Ramirez was strong at the net and Joyce had 2 kills. Great Job ladies!!!

8B L. Creech

The 8B Lady Eagles came home with a victory last night against the Ferris Lady Jackets winning 25-18, 16-25 and 25-15. Sophia Rae and Sophia Rodrigues for keep us going with multiple serves in the first game. Brynlee Ramos and Haidi Fuentes came in clutch in the third game with serve after serve. Special  recognition to Kate Villareal and Adilyn Pledger for several saves and great sets. Super proud of all the girls for fighting back and finishing strong!

7A Sanders

7A Lady Eagles swept Ferris in 2 sets! I am so proud of these young ladies and what all they’ve accomplished in such a short time. I want to give a huge shout out to the whole team. Seeing these girls work hard and progress each week shows how coachable and determined they are.

8A Lewis

The girls lost a considerably even matchup against Ferris last night in three sets, 20-25, 25-20, and ultimately 14-16 in a nail biter third set. Despite a tough loss, a moment I will never forget was Sara Spigener jump serving for an ace that made a Ferris player writhe on the ground like a swatted yellowjacket, and the pure deviant joy in Sara's smile in doing so.  Let's get it together and bounce back strong next week ladies.

HJHS Football Results 9/26/24

The 7th and 8th grade football A Teams traveled to Robinson last night and played hard until the final whistle. While both teams did not bring home the victory, they showed great character and left it all on the field.

Next week is the last home game for your JH Eagles. We are set to compete against Dallas Life at 5PM on Thursday. It is also our Pink Out Game!

Combo B Team

Last night was truly a David vs. Goliath battle when the Eagles combo team took on the Robinson Rockets. Unfortunately, combo missed the mark when they slung the rock and were unable to come home with the win. It takes a lot to go out and play against a team that is so much larger than you and we couldn't be more proud of our guys for facing the giant and giving it their all.

Every member of the team contributed to the win and I’m super proud of their progress!!!

The 7A ladies took home the victory beating Venus in two sets (25-8, & 25-13). These girls were very determined to beat Venus after losing to them their first game. Big shoutout to Ilene Librado and Collins Cole for getting 8 serves in a row! I also want to give a big shout out to Jakayla Wilson for being a great teammate and being coachable.

8A Lewis

The 8A Lady Eagles completed a three game homestand with a bounce back win against Venus.  They won in two sets 25-17, and 25-19.  There were many great moments in both sets but a  special shoutout goes to Kimber Barnes who set the tempo early with excellent serving.  The ladies adapted well when low on subs and played unselfishly for the greater purpose of getting a team victory.  I'm proud of how you stood up for each other ladies!

Our next game will be on Monday when we travel to Ferris to take on the Yellowjackets.

7th A TEAM

Your seventh grade Eagles played at home Thursday night against the West Trojans and came up just short of a victory. Offensively I’d like to give a shout out to Demarcus Brooks and Dominic Sowers for some great touchdown runs. Defensively I’d like to give a shout out to Leo Salis, KJ Long, William Davis, and Benny Borde for buckling up their chinstrap and not being scared to tackle.

Your Eagles will travel to Robinson next week in search of their first victory.

8th A TEAM

Your eighth grade Eagles played at home Thursday night against the West Trojans and put an absolute beating on them boys. Offensively we started the game on fire with Demarion Green completing four touchdown passes. Two scored by Ethan Clayton, one scored by Elijah Clayton, one scored by Kayson Librado. Eli Carmona ran the ball in for two touchdowns, and Angel Rodriguez , ran the ball in for one touchdown. Caesar Gonzalez also scooped a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown but unfortunately it was called back due to a block in the back.

Defensively we played lights out, we pursued to the ball every play and had at least four Eagles on the tackle every play. Shout out to Angel Rodriguez and Javier Gaspar for being in on over 10 tackles each.

Coach Haney, Coach Harris , Coach Hewitt and Coach Mannis couldn’t be more proud of each of you boys.

Y’all played extremely well and did the little things correctly. That’s what it takes to be an Eagle!

7B/8B K. Creech / L. Creech

The 7B&8B combined team took a loss against the Rio Vista Lady Eagles last night (23-25) (8-25.) Sometimes you win…sometimes you lose…and sometimes you beat yourself with missed serves. Shout out to Joyce from 7B for getting a hit at the net and Natalia for keeping positive energy throughout the game. Haidi Fuentes came on strong at the end with 4 serves but we just ran out of time. Keep fighting Lady Eagles…we believe in YOU!!!

7A Sanders

7A girls lost both sets against Rio Vista. The girls did some great things on the court, but there’s still a lot of things we need to work on. Super proud to be able to coach these young ladies. Player of the game goes to Collins Cole for being aggressive on offense and defense.

8A Lewis

The 8A ladies fell in three sets last night to Rio Vista (21-25, 25-19, 8-15). We had some great hustle and determination but couldn't find the plus side on the point differential. Biggest boost of the night was in the second set with Jocelyn Grimaldo holding 8 straight serves thanks to her teammates rallying to every ball with fierce intent. Keep fighting ladies. It WILL turn around next game.

The 8th grade Eagles traveled to Whitney last night and came up short of a victory. Shout out to Ethan Clayton for offensive MVP and Eli Carmona for being named Defensive MVP!

Next week is HOMECOMING and your Eagles will play the West Trojans!

---------------------------------

The 7th grade played a hard fought game today, but ultimately they couldn’t pull off the win. Our MVP standout was Damarcus Brooks. On both sides of the ball he showed what it is to have Eagle Pride. The team showed growth and tenacity, however, never giving up until the final snap and the coaches couldn’t be more proud. Next week is homecoming so come out and support our amazing Eagle team.

Combined 7th/8th B game (Creech and Creech)

7/8th B team played together last night against Blooming Grove taking home the win! Your lady eagles played awesome together as one with the 8th graders. Shout out Aleah Villegas for getting her passes up, and Victoria Villagomez for getting her serves over.

-----

Your 8B Lady Eagles came out strong against the Blooming Grove Lady Lions with a 25-18 victory. Kate Villareal started it off with 3 aces followed by Brynlie Ramos with 6 points and Jacquelyn Antunez with 4. JaZale Maxey was fierce at the net with several saves and tips. Defensively, Sophia Rea broke serves from Bloomington Grove’s top server. The girls showed excellent teamwork and improved communication throughout the game! Go Lady Eagles!!!

-----

7A Sanders

HJH 7th A Lady Eagles took on the Blooming Grove Lions winning both sets! Shoutout Marlene Orellan with 9 serves in a row, and also Christa Hodge and Layla Byrd with a kill last night! Super proud of these girls and what all they’ve accomplished since we started the season. Next up Rio Vista!

-----

8A Lewis

The 8A girls came up short last night against Blooming Grove losing in two sets, 19-25 and 21-25. Despite valiant rally attempts we just couldn't overcome the deficits that were built early. The girls played hard and learned quite a bit to carry forward and we will put that growth to use against Rio Vista next Monday.

It's tough to find bright spots in a loss sometimes, but I want to give a shoutout Juliana Morin, Halle Craig, Brianna Moreno, Mariah Harrison, Chainey Cockerham, and Aaliyah Tapia who sat on the bench for the majority of the second set because we were low on substitutions, and I didn't hear a single grumble out of any of them about not being able to play. THAT IS MATURITY LADIES, and recognition that the team is bigger than just you. I sincerely thank you for that.

A Team
Your 7th and 8th grade A Team Eagles opened up their season last night against the Ferris Yellow Jackets. Both teams fell just short of a victory but fought hard until the final whistle. Shout out to ALL ATHLETES for chewing down on that mouth piece and never giving up.

Your Eagles face Whitney next week on the road in search of our first victory.

Your Combination B Team
Our combo team hit one out of the park last night in our scrimmage against Farris. Digging our cleats in deep we came through with a 18-12 victory. Leading the way with two stupendous touchdowns was Erick Hernandez with Austin Wayman bringing his power in for a third touchdown. On the defensive side Kendrick Long made some huge stops on the line and in the backfield making the Hornets confused as to who was stinging who. Both Coach Mannis and Coach Haney are so proud to be working with such an amazing group and look forward to more wins in the future.

7B Coach K. Creech
Hillsboro Lady Eagles 7th grade B team brought home the dub in 2 sets! Shout out to A'Livia Jordan for tipping on the Lady Bulldogs all night, and Natalee Abreu for serving several points for your lady eagles!

7A Coach Sanders
7th A Lady Eagles went into three sets with Venus winning the first set and losing the next two. This is all the ladies' first time playing volleyball and they went out and tried their best. Player of the game goes to Zyriah Singleton with 3 aces!

8B Coach L. Creech
The 8B Lady Eagles had a slow start against the Venus Lady Bulldogs last night. We lost the first set but came back strong in the 2nd and third winning 25-18, 15-7 respectively. Adilyn Pledger and Brynlee Ramos had multiple aces, while Payton Coleman was strong at the net.  We’ll be working on serves 24/7 and hope to have a stronger start next week.

8A Coach Lewis
Your Lady Eagle 8A Volleyball girls traveled to Venus last night and put those stray bulldogs in the kennel with a convincing 25-14, and 25-18 two set victory in the season opener.  The girls played loose and fast and were too much to handle on serves.  Brianna Moreno had a rocket arm rattling off 9 serves in a row in the first set.  Aaliyah Tapia served out the second set with 7 clutch serves in a row.  I can't tell you how proud I am of the way all the girls played and lifted each other up.  Thanks to all the teams who cheered us on so loudly in the end.  We felt the energy and it raised our level of play for sure.  Player of the game was our libero, Jocelyn Grimaldo, who was all over the place with some fantastic passing.

Come watch us take on Blooming Grove at home on Monday.  There are only 3 games at 5, 6 and 7pm.
