Well, we pulled it together in an incredible way to find the win column in our last game of the season against Keene. Despite a valiant attempt by the Chargers to come back in the second half, your Lady Eagles held the lead the entire game and won 27-17. Scoring on the night came from Brynlee Ramos with 2, Halle Craig with 5, Sara Spigener with 7, and Addilynn Clayton with 13. The defense played as if all 8 girls were on the court at the same time and came up with multiple deflections and steals. Kate Villareal, Brianna Moreno, and Ruth Portillo gave max effort in their extended minutes, and Jazmin Garrett kept the energy up when on the floor.
Ladies, it's been a tough season but I wouldn't trade the times we've had and memories created for ANYTHING. Love y'all and many prayers for your future.
Please come out and support us next Thursday as we try to close out the season with a win!

The boys never gave up defensively just could not get a bucket to fall offensively. Thank you for all the support this season.
8A Coach Brown
he 8th grade A team boys finished strong, pulling out a last minute win against the Keene chargers! With the game tied and 1:30 to go your Eagles came up with huge steals on the defensive side followed by tough finishes at the offensive end to push their lead to 6 and win the game 36-30. Your Eagles finish a great year going 10-3.
7B and 8B Combined Coach Mannis
Tonight the boys traveled to Keene to take on the chargers.
The boys played hard and sapped all of the energy out of the chargers leading to a 20- 17 victory. The guys came out pushing a full court press that couldn't be beat and crashing boards on both sides of the ball. Cesar Perez came in hard being unstoppable when the ball was in his hands and Travis White led 7th to hold down the fort. It was a great game and amazing way to end the season.

Venus defeated your 7A Lady Eagles 17–23. Up until the end of the fourth quarter, the game was competitive. Because these young women displayed tenacity, I am quite proud of this defeat. Their improvement is increasing daily. After the game, the Venus coach added that those weren't the same girls he had played against before.
I feel so fortunate to be coaching these young women.
7B K Creech
Your 7th grade B Team Lady Eagles played hard but fell short. We know what we need to work on, and will come back stronger! Shout out to Melanie for working hard and playing with heart, and shout out to Samantha for being a great teammate.
Keep working hard!
8A Lewis
We may need rabies vaccinations after last night’s game because we got bit while trying to muzzle the Venus Lady Bulldogs. We fell 13-23 after a one point difference in the first half. Despite being down two players, the girls gave maximum effort. Halle Craig, Kate Villarreal, and Sara Spigener found the scorers column with 3, 5, and 5 respectively. Brynlee Ramos played her best game defensively, while Jazmin Garrett, Brianna Moreno and Ruth Portillo gave tremendous efforts defensively as well.
We have our Hillsboro Classic Tournament Saturday and hope to keep the trophy in house.

Your 7th A boys basketball traveled to Ferris Thursday night and lost to a tough yellow jacket team! I want to give a shout out to all players for playing hard for all four quarters!
Our next time on the court will be January 11th for the Hillsboro Classic JH tournament!
8A Coach Brown
It was another great win for your Hillsboro 8th Grade A team Eagles 28-17 over the Ferris Yellowjackets. It was smooth sailing for your Eagles as they dominated all aspects of the game. The Eagles were led in scoring by #4 Elijah Clayton, with other standout performances from #21 Ethan Clayton, #1 Deangelo Bibles, and #5 Kayson Librado. Your Eagles will go into Christmas Break undefeated with a 4-0 record ready to get back at it in the Hillsboro Classic on January 11.
7B Coach Harris
Last night the 7th grade b team defeated Ferris 26-12. Leading scorer was Rylie Cunningham (5 points). The team record is 4-0.
8B Coach Mannis
Well it wasn't in the cards for a Christmas win as the Hillsboro Eagle B team traveled to Ferris hoping to bring home the win. It was a hard fought and fast paced game on both sides but Ferris pulled out to lead the Eagles. Final score was 31 to 12 but the score did not reflect the hard work and determination that the boys put into the game. All of the players worked hard crashing the boards and looking for the next shot. We continue to get better.

The 7A Lady Eagles won against the Ferris Yellowjackets on Monday night, 16 to 6. Isabella Hernandez scored 10 points, Collins Cole, and Emma Harris with 4 points. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Natalia Ramirez for being coachable and having multiple steals. I am so proud of these ladies for stepping up and not letting the past weekend's tournament define them.
7B K Creech
Your 7th grade B team Lady Eagles scored another victory against Ferris!! Great job ladies! Ending the semester 4-0!! Shout out to Isabella A for great defense and Denise for being on fire with her layups! Keep up the great work, and keep being even better teammates!
8A Lewis
In heartbreaking fashion we couldn’t find a win to end the first half of the season losing to Ferris 12-15.
We held the Yellowjackets to 1 point in the entire first half, but gave up 6 unanswered points in the third quarter that swung the tide in our opponent’s direction. I don’t particularly believe in omens but a mysterious wasp interrupted our practice in the morning and gave the girls a fit while chasing them around the court… could it have been a Yellowjacket drone maybe? I just wonder, because it felt the same in the second half of of the game. Addilynn Clayton, Halle Craig, and Brynlee Ramos all found the scorer’s column. Sara Spigener and Adi had several steals on the night also. Maybe Santa will leave us some “win potion” in our stockings and we come back in January en fuego!
8B L Creech
The 8B Lady Eagles lost by 1 against the Ferris Lady Jackets after leading the entire game. Aaliyah lead the team with 8 points. Kimber had 4, TyLiyah with 3 and Sophia with 2.
We started the game really strong but just couldn’t see it through. We will be incorporating a new offense to utilize our strengths and hopefully pull out a win upon returning from the break.
HJHS Girls Basketball Results Saturday 12/14/24 La Vega TOURNAMENT
7A
Our 7th grade girls went 1-2 in the La Vega tournament. Our first match up was Bosqueville, and we had a great team performance. Our last two games were against La Academia and Tennyson, and it did not go as planned. Although we did not get the outcome we wanted, the girls had a great first time experience. We finished the tournament in 8th place out of ten teams competing.
8A
The 8th grade girls also went 1-2 in the La Vega Tournament, beating Connally in the first match up, but unable to take that fire into the next game against Bremond. This put us in the consolation game against Bryan SFA and we came out with lockdown defense holding the lead in the first quarter and only down by two going into the half. I think someone switched our goal with an amusement park rim in the second half because the ball seemed too big to fit in the basket the rest of the way! We ended up in 6th place out of ten teams. All the girls deserve a shout out for enduring such a long day that started at 6:45am and didn't end til almost 8:30pm. Thank you for your commitment ladies.

On Thursday night our very own Hillsboro Eagles flew onto the Chargers field looking to round up the ponies and put this season in the stable. In true Eagle fashion we swooped in and circled the poor ponies so much that they looked more like a child's merry-go-round. William Davis made an outstanding fumble recovery to begin breathing life into the team followed by touchdowns by both Demarcus Brooks and Dominic Sowers. The Eagles created such a storm on both offense and defense that the poor ponies had to hide in their stalls as the Eagles came away with a 36-0 victory to end their season showing why the Eagles of HJH dominate the sky. The coaches want to say great job guys and we look forward to building on it more next year.

Closing the Season
8B L Creech
Your 8B Lady Eagles are THE UNDEFEATED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! This team has grown in so many ways but I love their teamwork the most. They hold each other accountable in a positive way and make the most of every practice to get better.
In last night’s match-up, Julianna and Anna Claire brought the heat from the serving line racking up ace after ace. Kaley, Helena and Haidi had amazing passes that led to multiple kills from Payton,
Sofia Rodriguez and Jackie. Kate, Adalynn and Sophia Rea showed consistency and leadership all over the court throughout the ENTIRE season. Most improved goes to JaZale who is literally killing it at the net. Thank you, ladies, for showing up at 6:45 every day even when you didn’t have to, your enthusiasm and for all always wanting to run the drill until we get it right. It has been an honor to coach you and I can’t wait to see what your future holds!
8A Lewis
In the final game of the volleyball season the 8A girls took some frustration out on the Yellowjackets, having lost to them twice before. After a not so veiled warning of “you better not lose again” the girls took to the floor with determination to win, and did so in two sets!
Sharp and responsive net play from Addilynn Clayton, Ruth Portillo, Sara Spigener, Brynlee Ramos, Analeah Vasquez, and Brianna Moreno made it tough for Ferris to get anything through on the attack. The back court was securely covered by Mariah Harrison, Halle Craig, Aliyah Tapia, Kimber Barnes, and Jocelyn Grimaldo. Every young lady played with infectious energy and a sense of urgency that led to some outstanding plays and a great brand of volleyball. What a way to close the season at .500 and avoid a losing record, showing just what you’re capable of when you play for each other. It was an absolute honor to coach each of you and I can’t wait to see how well you do in high school.

7A girls took home the victory beating Venus in 2 sets. I can’t say enough how proud I am of these girls. They showed up and showed out! Shoutout to Emma Harris for being aggressive and getting 3 downballs over!!!!
8B L Creech
Your 8B Lady Eagles got the win in Venus last night but more importantly, they learned the power of positive energy in times of adversity. A small thing that can definitely shift the momentum. Shout out to Kate Villareal, Ja'Zale Maxey and Sophia Rea for keeping us in the game with serves. Payton Coleman had a couple of beautiful deep pushes and Sophia Rodriguez made several nice passes in serve receive. Special recognition to Kaley Zint for always staying positive!
Super proud of this team as they improve their record to 6-1. Way to go Lady Eagles!
8A Lewis
With lifted spirits and a jolt of energy the 8A girls won in two sets 25-17 and 25-23. They should have been paid for walking the dogs as this was the third win of the season against the Bulldogs. Mariah Harrison created the opportunity for a come from behind run in the first set by serving seven great balls, while the rotation held serve with excellent defense and aggressive offense. In the second set, Jocelyn Grimaldo initiated seven held serve points as well and sprinkled an ace or two in for good measure. Addilyn Clayton was hard to handle on the attack; Ruth Portillo and Brynlee Ramos repeatedly made their presence known at the net; Brianna Moreno, Analeah Vasquez, and Aliyah Tapia made hustle plays that sustained the rally for much needed points. Sara Spigener, Kimber Barnes and Halle Craig were so solid and kept us driving forward whether on the floor or cheering on their sisters from the bench.
THIS IS HOW LADY EAGLE VOLLEYBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED!
We finish the season at home on Monday at Ferris and would all love to have you come cheer us on.

Looking to prove that lightning can strike in the same spot twice, Hillsboro traveled to Dallas life and took on the Lions in their own den. Starting off the defense made a tremendous play with a flock of Eagles causing a safety on the Lions possession to put the score up by two. This was followed by an amazing stop by Dominic Sowers that surely would have ended in a Lions touchdown. Demarcus Brooks again came swooping in for a Eagles touchdown and the 7th grade Eagles took the victory eight to nothing. All of the coaches are proud of the growth that the players have shown and this week want to really shout out our offensive and defensive lines that held the fort and made sure to keep the path to victory in sight.
8th Grade
Your 8th grade football team traveled to Dallas Life last night and came up just short of a victory. Losing 37-24, your Eagles battled all night and never gave up until the final whistle. I want to give a shout out to multiple Eagles for putting some points on the board. First, Elijah Clayton for scoring our first touchdown on a great pass from Demarrion Green. Second TD came from Ethan Clayton jumping up and snagging a high pass from Green. Next, Eli Carmona bulldozed his way in for 2 more rushing touchdowns. Kason Librado and Alex Clark made some big plays changing the entire sideline energy.
Next week we travel to Keene looking to add another win to our record. GO EAGLES!!!

On Thursday the 7th grade traveled to Venus in hopes of silencing the bulldogs bark and in a dominating show they did just that. From the opening kick Major Lopez scored putting the Eagles on the board followed by a touchdown by Dominic Sowers and three more by Demarcus Brooks to teach the bulldogs to stay on the porch ending the game with a score of 32-8.
8th Grade
Your Eagles traveled to Venus Thursday night and threw them dawgs in the cage from the beginning. Ethan Clayton scored early on a perfect pass from Demarrion Green. Then Alex Clark followed it up the next drive with a long running TD off a Jet Sweet. Elijah Clayton had some great catches for multiple first downs. Eli Carmona led the team with over 15 tackles and multiple sacks in the backfield for losses. Finally I want to give a HUGE shout out to Abraham Perez, this young man stepped up early on in the game and played Defensive Tackle and was unstoppable. Venus tried double teaming him and they just could not handle his aggressive mindset. He also had multiple sacks in the backfield for losses. Great job young man, keep working hard.
Next week we travel to Dallas Life looking for some sweet revenge! GO EAGLES!!!!

The 8B Lady Eagles found the win column again last night defeating the Ferris Lady Jackets 26-24 and 25-9. Outstanding players were Kate Villareal and JaZale Maxey.

The girls lost a considerably even matchup against Ferris last night in three sets, 20-25, 25-20, and ultimately 14-16 in a nail biter third set. Despite a tough loss, a moment I will never forget was Sara Spigener jump serving for an ace that made a Ferris player writhe on the ground like a swatted yellowjacket, and the pure deviant joy in Sara's smile in doing so. Let's get it together and bounce back strong next week ladies.

Last night was truly a David vs. Goliath battle when the Eagles combo team took on the Robinson Rockets. Unfortunately, combo missed the mark when they slung the rock and were unable to come home with the win. It's tough to find bright spots in a loss sometimes, but I want to give a shoutout Juliana Morin, Halle Craig, Brianna Moreno, Mariah Harrison, Chainey Cockerham, and Aaliyah Tapia who sat on the bench for the majority of the second set because we were low on substitutions, and I didn't hear a single grumble out of any of them about not being able to play. THAT IS MATURITY LADIES, and recognition that the team is bigger than just you. I sincerely thank you for that.

7B Coach K. Creech Hillsboro Lady Eagles 7th grade B team brought home the dub in 2 sets! Shout out to A'Livia Jordan for tipping on the Lady Bulldogs all night, and Natalee Abreu for serving several points for your lady eagles! 7A Coach Sanders 7th A Lady Eagles went into three sets with Venus winning the first set and losing the next two. This is all the ladies' first time playing volleyball and they went out and tried their best. Player of the game goes to Zyriah Singleton with 3 aces! 8B Coach L. Creech The 8B Lady Eagles had a slow start against the Venus Lady Bulldogs last night. We lost the first set but came back strong in the 2nd and third winning 25-18, 15-7 respectively. Adilyn Pledger and Brynlee Ramos had multiple aces, while Payton Coleman was strong at the net. We’ll be working on serves 24/7 and hope to have a stronger start next week. 8A Coach Lewis Your Lady Eagle 8A Volleyball girls traveled to Venus last night and put those stray bulldogs in the kennel with a convincing 25-14, and 25-18 two set victory in the season opener. The girls played loose and fast and were too much to handle on serves. Brianna Moreno had a rocket arm rattling off 9 serves in a row in the first set. Aaliyah Tapia served out the second set with 7 clutch serves in a row. I can't tell you how proud I am of the way all the girls played and lifted each other up. Thanks to all the teams who cheered us on so loudly in the end. We felt the energy and it raised our level of play for sure. Player of the game was our libero, Jocelyn Grimaldo, who was all over the place with some fantastic passing. Come watch us take on Blooming Grove at home on Monday. There are only 3 games at 5, 6 and 7pm.HJHS Cross Country Results 9/4/2024
