School Safety
Officer Lynelle Sparks, Officer M. Penney, and Officer Javier Torres, our school resource officers, have the important responsibility of ensuring Hillsboro Independent School District (HISD) students are secure at all times. Their goal is to work proactively to prevent issues before they happen.
Officers Sparks, M. Penney, and Torres are fully commissioned law officers employed by the Hillsboro Police Department and housed on HISD campuses. Their jobs involve a variety of tasks, from making sure school doors are locked to keeping watch over schools through security cameras.
In addition to handling daily issues related to truancy, conflict resolution, and law enforcement intervention, their duties include offering classes in alcohol and drug prevention for older kids and their parents, and anti-bullying classes for younger students. They also coordinate security for all athletic events.
